Canberra, Gold Coast likely to host BBL Finals following venue clashes for West Indies series

The eagerly anticipated final matches of the Big Bash League (BBL) might be relocated to the Gold Coast and Canberra due to scheduling conflicts with the upcoming West Indies Test series. Notably, Australia is set to face the West Indies at the Adelaide Oval from January 17–21, followed by the second Test at the Gabba from January 25–29.

BBL’s Brisbane Heat has the option to host any earned final matches at Heritage Bank Stadium. Meanwhile, the Adelaide Strikers will host the matches at Manuka Oval before their home ground becomes available for the final two matches of the tournament after the first Test.

Blockbuster BBL finals could be played on the Gold Coast and in Canberra due to a venues squeeze caused by a clash with the West Indies Test series.https://t.co/6cMrCEtH1e

The marquee tournament has reverted to a four-team final structure, with the first and second-placed teams participating in the qualifiers, while the third and fourth-placed teams qualify through two knockout games.

It’s worth mentioning that, except for Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat, all other teams will have access to their home venues for the upcoming finals series. The Adelaide Strikers, currently in fourth place in the tournament standings, are in contention to move up to third place. Additionally, the Adelaide Oval will be available for the challenger on January 22 and the final on January 24, provided the Strikers qualify.
