A Test match for the ages and the history books. IND vs SA 2nd Test Day 1 in Cape Town saw everything happening. Aiming for revenge of the Boxing Day Test loss, India came with all guns blazing. Dean Elgar playing his last Test match won the toss and opted to bat first. Mohammed Siraj unleashed his fury as he scalped 6 wickets.
South Africa were left victimized as they registered their lowest Test total to India. The Proteas were bowled out for just 55 runs. joining Siraj, Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar bagged 2 wickets a piece to end proceedings as the game went for an early lunch.

On came India and they started well. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli added vital runs before Lungi Ngidi triggered India’s collapse. The India Cricket Team lost 6 wickets without adding a single run. In the end, India were bowled out for 153 runs with a lead of 98 runs.
On came South Africa to bat again on Day 1. Both Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar started proceedings well. But Mukesh Kumar playing his second Test match struck twice quickly. He dispatched Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi. Bumrah then scalped Tristan Stubbs. South Africa ended Day 1 with a score of 62/3 and trailing by 36 runs. A total of 23 wickets fell on the day.
Mohammed Siraj breathes Fire
The Indian pacer was a class above the rest in the 1st innings of the game. He registered his best Test figures that read 6/15. Desperate for revenge, India started the game strongly. He continued to bowl a long spell and managed to scalp all his wickets in just 9 overs that included 3 maiden overs.
Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynn and Marco Jansen all fell victims to Siraj’s power spell. South Africa with their 55 all out registered their 4th lowest score in Test cricket in Cape Town.
India Lower order collapses
Not just South Africa, India’s lower order too collapsed. India were comfortable at 153/4 when Ngidi dismissed KL Rahul. That triggered a collapse for the visitors. The rest 6 departed in the next 11 balls without adding a solitary run. 6 Indian batters departed for a duck.
Further more, as time progressed, the pitch started to provide a little for the batters as the Proteas got off to a steady start. not before Mukesh Kumar bagged 2 wickets and Bumrah claimed another.
