At the prestigious Enero Costanera in Buenos Aires, Gonzalo and Nicolás Pieres, along with Bautista Bayugar and Ignatius Du Plessis, the latest additions to the team, officially unveiled the Ellerstina Yellow Rose squad for the upcoming polo season in Argentina. The players showcased the team’s fresh official jersey and discussed their anticipations for the year ahead. Gonzalo Pieres conveyed his excitement, expressing, “We are thrilled to kick off the season with this new team, aiming for a robust start and success throughout.” The occasion, attended by various notable individuals, marked the collaboration between the esteemed Ellerstina team and Yellow Rose, a polo club established in 1996 in Punta del Este by Jorge “Corcho” Rodríguez. Rodríguez, accompanied by his partner Vero Lozano, graced the event along with other prominent personalities.
Since 2021, Yellow Rose, with bases in both Argentina and Uruguay, has expanded its polo operations in Argentina and forged a partnership with Ellerstina, a youthful and dynamic team with significant potential, enthusiasm, and solid organizational backing. The team, excluding Facundo Pieres, who joined the La Natividad quartet this season, comprises Nicolas Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, Gonzalo Pieres, and “Nachi” Du Plessis, achieving a combined handicap of 35 goals. Expectations are high for the Argentine Triple Crown, featuring esteemed tournaments like the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open, and the Argentine Open Polo Championship.
Sponsors for the event included Yellow Rose, Jeep, Gibson, and RUS, with additional support from AlUla, Stella Artois, Sierra de los Padres, Enero Restaurant, Johnnie Walker, Clos de los Siete, and Aconcagua.
In addition to its success in local competitions, Yellow Rose is renowned for its social responsibility and promotion of equestrian sports. The club hosts traditional charity events, combining high-handicap polo with music and philanthropy, attracting renowned polo players and raising funds for social causes. Notable polo players in Argentina, such as Polito Pieres, Ignacio Figueras, Gonzalo Pieres, Bartolomé “Barto” Castagnola, Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Pablo Llorente, among others, have participated in these initiatives.
In 2021, the club organized an event in Punta del Este sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association and the Uruguayan Polo Association, bringing together top polo players globally to support the Marabo Sports and Social Club in General Rodríguez, Buenos Aires province. Yellow Rose’s commitment to social causes is further demonstrated through its collaboration with the Compromiso Foundation and the Municipality of General Rodríguez, where it is based. The club actively promotes a free training program for individuals over 16 years old in digital skills such as Digital Marketing, Electronic Commerce, and Digital Programming. The 2023 season marks a significant milestone for the club as it takes on the title sponsorship of Ellerstina in the Triple Crown, emphasizing the shared values of family, friendship, and sportsmanship promoted by Yellow Rose.
