Former IFP Leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s Youngest Child, Sibuyiselwe Buthelezi, Passes Away
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Sibuyiselwe Buthelezi, the youngest child of former Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader, Mangosuthu Buthelezi. Sibuyiselwe, fondly known as Sibu, passed away on the 10th of September 2021 at the age of 47.
Sibu was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend to many. She was known for her kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy will continue to live on in the memories of those she touched.
Born on the 9th of June 1974, Sibu was the youngest of eight children born to Mangosuthu and his late wife, Irene. Growing up in the Buthelezi household, Sibu was surrounded by love, support, and a strong sense of community. Her father, a prominent political figure in South Africa, instilled in her the values of service, compassion, and resilience.
Sibu was a graduate of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences. She was passionate about social justice and dedicated her life to uplifting and empowering marginalized communities. Sibu was an active member of the IFP and served as a councillor in the eThekwini municipality.
Her commitment to serving others extended beyond politics. Sibu was involved in various community development projects, including providing support to orphaned and vulnerable children in her community. She was also a strong advocate for women’s rights and played a pivotal role in empowering women in her community.
Sibu’s passing has left a deep void in the Buthelezi family, but they find comfort in knowing that she lived a life of purpose and made a positive impact on the lives of those around her. Her father, Mangosuthu, described her as a “bright light” and a “pillar of strength” in the family.
The IFP has also paid tribute to Sibu, describing her as a “dedicated and selfless leader” who will be deeply missed by the party. The party has declared a period of mourning and has urged its members to keep the Buthelezi family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Sibu’s passing serves as a reminder that life is fragile, and we must cherish every moment we have with our loved ones. She leaves behind her husband, two children, and a legacy of love, compassion, and service. Her memory will continue to inspire and motivate those who knew her to make a positive impact in their communities.
In this time of grief, let us remember Sibu’s infectious smile, her kind heart, and her unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. She may have left us too soon, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Buthelezi family and all those who knew and loved Sibu. May her soul rest in peace, and may her family find comfort in the memories of her beautiful life.
