Vanessa Borovilos is a name that is quickly making its mark in the world of golf. At just 18 years old, she has already achieved a coveted accomplishment in her career – playing at the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club as part of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. But this is not the first time that Borovilos has stepped foot on this iconic course. In fact, her journey with Augusta National began when she was just eight years old.
It was in 2011 when Borovilos first visited Augusta National to compete in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals. This event, held annually at Augusta National, invites young golfers from across the United States to showcase their skills in driving, chipping, and putting. And Borovilos was one of the lucky few who got the opportunity to compete on the same course as the Masters Tournament.
For Borovilos, this was a dream come true. Growing up in Toronto, Canada, she had always been passionate about golf. Her parents, who were both avid golfers themselves, introduced her to the sport at a young age. And from the moment she held a golf club in her hands, she was hooked.
Borovilos’ natural talent and dedication to the sport quickly became evident. She started playing in local tournaments and soon began to make a name for herself in the junior golf circuit. And her hard work paid off when she qualified for the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals in 2011.

Fast forward ten years, and Borovilos is back at Augusta National, this time as part of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. This tournament, which was first held in 2019, invites the top amateur women golfers from around the world to compete on the same course as the Masters Tournament. And Borovilos was one of the 72 players selected to participate in the 2021 edition of the tournament.
For Borovilos, this was a dream come true. She had always dreamed of playing at Augusta National again, and now she had the chance to do it on an even bigger stage. And she did not disappoint. With her impressive skills and determination, she made it to the final round of the tournament, finishing in a respectable 16th place.
But Borovilos’ journey as a golfer is far from over. She is currently a freshman at the University of Michigan, where she is a member of the women’s golf team. And she has already made a name for herself in the college golf circuit, earning the Big Ten Freshman of the Week title in her first season.
Borovilos’ success on the golf course is not the only thing that sets her apart. She is also a proud Greek-Canadian, and her heritage is an essential part of her identity. Growing up, she was exposed to both Greek and Canadian cultures, and she embraces both with pride. In fact, she often incorporates her Greek roots into her golf game, wearing a Greek flag on her golf bag and using a Greek-themed ball marker.

Despite facing challenges and setbacks, she remains focused and motivated, always striving to improve her game.
