Former general urges Trump to call Xi over Iran, Strait of Hormuz

Retired Army Gen. Jack Keane has called on President Trump to take decisive action in order to break Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz. In a recent interview on the “Cats & Cosby” radio show, Keane emphasized the need for the United States to prevent Iran from using its oil-carrying ships to reach their destinations, particularly in countries like China.

The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman, is a vital shipping route for oil exports from the Middle East. It is estimated that nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes through this strategic chokepoint. However, in recent years, Iran has been using this crucial passage as a tool to assert its dominance and further its political agenda.

Gen. Keane, a highly respected military strategist and former Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, believes that it is imperative for the U.S. to take action and prevent Iran from controlling this vital waterway. He stated, “Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz is a direct threat to global energy security and the stability of the region. It is time for the U.S. to take a strong stance and break Tehran’s grip on this critical passage.”

The retired general’s comments come at a time of heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran. In recent months, there have been numerous incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, including attacks on oil tankers and the seizure of a British-flagged oil tanker by Iran. These actions have raised concerns about the safety of shipping in the region and have led to increased calls for the U.S. to take action.

Gen. Keane believes that the U.S. has the capability to disrupt Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz. He suggested that the U.S. Navy should use its superior maritime capabilities to prevent Iran’s oil-carrying ships from reaching their destinations. This would not only weaken Iran’s hold on the region but also send a strong message to the Iranian regime that their aggressive actions will not be tolerated.

The retired general also stressed the importance of working with U.S. allies in the region, particularly Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to counter Iran’s influence. He stated, “The U.S. must work closely with its allies to ensure the safety and security of the Strait of Hormuz. Together, we can send a powerful message to Iran that their actions will have consequences.”

Gen. Keane’s call for action has been met with support from other experts in the field. Retired Army Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, who served as the commanding general of U.S. Army Europe, stated, “Gen. Keane is absolutely right. The U.S. must take action to prevent Iran from controlling this critical waterway. It is a matter of national security for not only the U.S. but also for our allies in the region.”

President Trump has also expressed his concerns about Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz. In a recent tweet, he stated, “Iran has been nothing but trouble for many years. Let this serve as a WARNING that if Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the United States again!”

As tensions continue to escalate between the U.S. and Iran, it is crucial for the U.S. to take decisive action to prevent Iran from controlling the Strait of Hormuz. Gen. Keane’s call for action is a timely reminder of the importance of safeguarding global energy security and maintaining stability in the region. It is now up to President Trump to heed this call and take the necessary steps to break Tehran’s control over this vital waterway.
