Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was left out of the playing XI for the 1st IND vs SA Test at the Centurion on Tuesday. Revealing the playing XI for the game after losing the toss, skipper Rohit Sharma said that Ashwin would be playing in place of Jadeja, who had a back spasm. He added that the veteran was a quality spinner to have in the XI.
“Ravindra Jadeja complained of upper back spasms on the morning of the match. He was not available for selection for the first Test’, BCCI said in a tweet on X.

“We are playing with four seamers and a spinner. Ashwin is playing in place of Jadeja. Jaddu had a bit of a back spasm, so Ashwin comes in and he is a quality spinner to have“, Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
