Mashatile addresses the media at Good Friday service held by Amandla Ngawethu Universal Church

Johannesburg, 2 April 2021- The Good Friday service hosted by Amandla Ngawethu Universal Church was attended by various political and community figures, including ANC treasurer-general Paul Mashatile. After the service, Mashatile took the opportunity to address the media and share his thoughts on the significance of Good Friday and the role of the church in South Africa.

In a powerful and heartfelt speech, Mashatile emphasized the importance of Good Friday in the Christian faith and the significance of sacrifice. He stated that Good Friday is a time for reflection and remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for humanity.

“The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross signifies the depth of God’s love for us. It is a reminder that love and sacrifice go hand in hand. As we gather here today, we should reflect on our own lives and the sacrifices we can make for the betterment of society,” Mashatile said.

He also commended Amandla Ngawethu Universal Church for hosting the Good Friday service and providing a platform for people to come together and worship.

“This church has not only provided a space for spiritual growth but has also been actively involved in community development. They have been instrumental in uplifting the lives of the less fortunate and promoting social cohesion,” Mashatile acknowledged.

Addressing the role of the church in South Africa, Mashatile highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration between the government and religious institutions.

“The church plays a crucial role in shaping the moral fabric of our society. It is through the teachings of the church that we learn to love and care for one another, and this is crucial for a united nation. As the government, we value the partnership with the church and recognize their efforts in bringing about positive change in our communities,” he stated.

Mashatile also took the opportunity to address the current challenges facing the country, including the pandemic and the recent unrest in parts of South Africa. He urged citizens to come together and work towards building a better future for all.

“Today, as we commemorate Good Friday, we also remember the struggles of our people and the sacrifices made by our leaders in the fight for liberation. We must use this day to reflect on how we can contribute to the betterment of our country. Let us stand together in solidarity and work towards a brighter future,” Mashatile urged.

In conclusion, Mashatile expressed his gratitude to Amandla Ngawethu Universal Church for organizing the service and called on South Africans to continue to support and uplift one another, especially during these challenging times.

As we observe Good Friday, let us remember the teachings of love, sacrifice, and unity. Let us continue to work towards a better South Africa, a country where all its citizens can thrive and prosper.
